Hello Rockshire Sharks!
Great job everyone at the meet on Saturday and excellent fast swimming! We also had a great time with the trip to Hershey; thank you to everyone who came and had fun together at the park! This week we will be getting ready for our relays with our Friday Funnight activity- tie dye (also, a great way to earn extra volunteer and SSL hours!)-and have 2 away meets. Keep up the great swimming Sharks!

1. Shark Practice Schedule:
***A friendly reminder that morning practice starts TODAY and we are officially entering the summer swim schedule. Preteam still meets at the same time and there are no changes***
June 22-July 18:
Mornings:
11 & Up: 8:45-10:00AM
10 & Under: 10:00 - 10:50AM
Afternoons:
11 & Up: 4:15 - 5:15 PM
9-10: 5:15 - 6:00 PM
8 & Under: 6:00 -6:45 PM
2. B Meet Away at Tally Ho ( 8650 Bells Mill Rd, Potomac, MD 20854 ) on Wednesday, June 24. Theme: Disney/Marvel. Please be on Deck by 5:00pm. More details on the meet schedule will be forthcoming!
3. Friday FunNight June 26- Pasta night! Thank you all for bringing food for our grill out; island to our grillers for working hard at the grill! Everything was amazing! Join us for our Friday dinner this week after practice. We will be having pasta night and our fun team tradition of Tie Dye!!!. A reminder that you MUST bring something to participate in dinner, and to please sign up ahead of time for what you will bring. There are details when you sign up on quantities etc. For our tie dye event: Please bring one white t-shirt* (per swimmer) AND a gallon sized zip lock bag. Shirts need to be labeled with your swimmers first name/last initial.
Before tie dying (or after once the shirt is washed and dried), your swimmer is invited to decorate their shirt further using a permanent marker/Sharpie.
The activity will take place in the grassy area outside the pool entrance.
Drop off your shirts starting at 4:15.
*A limited number of white shirts will be for sale for $5. (Correct change or Venmo ONLY)
Directions for care after shirts come out of the tie dye:
- Place t-shirt into a ziploc bag.
- Keep in bag for the next 24 hours.
- Remove from bag and rinse under cold water until the water comes out clear OR
- Put in washing machine (not with your whites!!!) and wash on cold.
- Dry and wear to the relay carnival meets!!
4. A meet AWAY @ Kenmont (2900 Faulkner Pl, Kensington, MD 20895 ) Saturday, June 27. Theme: Togas Lunch after @ Cafe Rio! See below for meet details from the Kenmont reps:
Parking: We have a large parking lot with room for visitor cars. If the lot fills up, there is street parking in the neighborhood. We do not have expressed permission to use the Westfield Wheaton Parking Lot for this particular event. Do so at your own risk.
Schedule:
8:00 - 8:20 – Kenmont Tsunami warm up
8:30 – Stroke and Turn Officials Briefing with the Referee (gate shack)
8:20 - 8:40 – Rockshire warm up
8:45 – Timers briefing with the Head Timer and/or Starter (diving board)
8:50 - Scratch meeting under the clubhouse awning where automation will be set up
9:00 – Start First Event
Team Area: The designated team area for you is on the grass by the grills and picnic tables. The area is shaded but feel free to bring tents if you'd like.
Concessions: We will have a concession stand inside our clubhouse selling fresh fruit, yogurt, donuts, bagels, and treats as well as coffee, Gatorade, water and soda.
5. Save the date-Movie Night July 2- Minions and Monsters! We will head to Regal Cinema in downtown Rockville for the Minions and Monsters movie! We will go to the 7pm show. We will combine 8&under and 9-10 practice to make sure everyone can make it on time. You can get tickets in advance here: Monsters and minions 7pm Thursday, July 2
