2. Looking for something fun to do during the long weekend? We will be taking a team trip to Hershey Park on June 21! At this point, the ticket price has increased but is still very low and is $42/ticket. Please sign up by completing this survey and paying the $40 for each ticket via Venmo to @RockshireSharks or by check to Elena Belyaev, our treasurer. **prices may increase after May 30. Families will be responsible for their own food, parking, and accommodations if desired. Further details will be forthcoming.
3. Volunteering guidelines: confused about what to volunteer for when registering for the team? Here are some helpful guidelines to help you decide ** Please remember that registration will not be complete until you have signed up for all volunteer requirements**:
Years on team: 0-1- help working concessions during a meet or team event, ribbon writing (or sticking more accurately), or timing at a meet. Concessions are low key, and neither requires prior experience . Getting ice, helping with meet setup, and volunteering at social events also require no previous experience.
Years on team:2-4- consider in addition to concessions/timing volunteering in one of the officials roles and complete officials training. You would also be a great runner at meets, or working as a clerk of course years
Years on team:4+ consider taking on one of the more major volunteer responsibilities of helping the operations behind the scenes. We are looking for a social chair and someone to shadow and help with the banquet this year. Like computers and technology and staying cool during meets? Complete automation training! We are always in need of additional hands for automation.
Additional yearly volunteer positions are also needed! Can’t commit to timing in a meet or have conflicts? Consider helping with some behind-the-scenes volunteer opportunities. We are currently looking for a banquet chair and social chair for the 2026 season. Please email us if you are interested in this position!
- Banquet chair duties include:
- Organizing the timing and flow of the banquet
- Organizing volunteers for setting up, cleaning up, and serving food at the banquet
- Ordering all awards for the banquet (will be reimbursed by the team)
- Ordering the cake, decorations and supplies for the banquet (will be reimbursed by the team)
- Reserving the room for the banquet the following year (2027)
- Social Chair duties include:
- Setting up all Friday Fun-night in the poolhouse (~6pm) and clean up (~8pm)
- Organizing all volunteers for Friday events
- Organizing and promoting team events (movie night, team trip, FireCracker relays) with the reps and coaches
4. Help Support your Sharks by Dining at Chik-Fil-A! We will have a fundraiser at Chik-Fil-A on research row from 3-7pm on Monday, May 18. Tell all your friends to help support the Sharks on May 18!
5. Mandatory Parent meeting for the Swim team (NOT preteam) will be on May 18 and May 25 at 8pm in the pool clubhouse. You only need to come to ONE of the meetings; here we will have shirt and bag tag pick up, discuss volunteer requirements, and set the tone for an amazing summer. A reminder that your swimmer can NOT enter the water if you do not attend a parent meeting.
6. Meet the Coaches! Sunday, May 24 5:30pm-7pm at the pool! We will be selling concessions, handing out team swag, and getting a chance to chat with our coaches before the season begins on Tuesday, May 26.
